Jakarta (Antara) - Garuda Indonesia will start operating flights on the Jakarta-Nagoya route in April 2015 for catering to the market demand and expanding its flight network in Japan, noted the airlines. "The Jakarta-Nagoya service is also part of the airline's 'network' expansion program, especially in the international sector to and from Indonesia and Japan," President and CEO Garuda Indonesia Garuda Indonesia Emirsyah Satar stated in a press statement here on Monday. Satar revealed that reopening the Nagoya route was a strategy to expand the Garuda network to Japan and beyond. "Japan is very important to Garuda Indonesia. For more than 50 years, Garuda Indonesia has shown its support towards improving the diplomatic relations between Indonesia and Japan, especially in increasing economic, tourism, and social activities between the two countries," Emir remarked. Emir made the statement while welcoming Governor of Aichi Prefecture, Japan, Ohmura Hideaki in Jakarta on Monday evening (September 8). In addition to discussing the plan of resuming flights on the Jakarta-Nagoya route, the development of a strategic partnership between Garuda Indonesia and Aichi Prefecture and associated business commitments to local corporate accounts for developing the tourism potential between the two sides were also discussed. Japan is an important market for Garuda Indonesia, specifically the province of Aichi Prefecture, which is known as the hub for the automotive and aviation industry in Japan and for its scenic beauty. "Aichi Prefecture and Japan is a market with huge potential, particularly for business and leisure passengers. Hopefully, this cooperation will further strengthen the good relations between the two countries, in terms of improving economic relations, trade, and tourism between the two countries," Emir affirmed.
