Surabaya, E Java (Antara) - The Surabaya city government in East Java has received the certificate of compliance with the public service law from the public service supervisory board, the Indonesian Ombudsman. Surabaya Mayor Tri Rismaharini said here on Saturday that Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Djoko Suyanto, in the company of Indonesian Ombudsman chief Danang Girindrawardana, handed the award to her at the Hotel Grand Sahid Jaya in Jakarta on Friday. "The Surabaya city administration will always try to make public services more practical and efficient," she said. Surabaya is one of the 26 cities which have received the award. The other recipients include 17 ministries, 12 state institutions and 21 provincial governments. Based on the law of the Indonesian Ombudsman No. 710/ORI-Srt/VII/2014, there are 14 working units of regional apparatuses (SKPD) in Surabaya city belonging to the green zone. They include the office of housing, planning and urban development and spatial layout (DCKTR), the public works office, the one-stop service unit (UPTSA) , the health office, and the income and financial management office (DPPK). The others are the environment board (BLH), the building and land management board (DPBT), the Surya Sembada drinking water company, the personnel, education and training board, the social service office, and the education office. The award means that the working units of regional agencies are considered to have a high level of compliance with law No. 25/2009 on public services. Article 15 of the law stipulates that any service unit must provide the public with information about precise times, procedures, requirements and service fees. Tri Rismaharini said the online licensing system, called the Surabaya Single Window (SSW), is one of the concrete efforts made by the Surabaya city government to serve the public. (*)
