Kudus, Central Java (Antara) - Indonesia has set a target to clinch the Thomas Cup men's group championship in New Delhi, India, on May 18-25. It is meanwhile optimistic that its Uber Cup women's team will be able to go beyond the semi-final round in the event. General Chairman of the Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSi) Gita Wirjawan visited the players who were undergoing special training at PB Djarum Jati Sports Hall in Kudus, Central Java, on Wednesday. In a press conference after the visit, Gita noted that the targets were realistic, considering the teams' rankings and performance so far. In view of that, he hoped that both Thomas Cup and Uber Cup players will perform to the best of their abilities in the championships later. "They must be disciplined, focused, and should be patient and concentrate on their target, without getting tensed and be calm and composed," he emphasised. The country's Thomas Cup and Uber Cup teams have been quarantined in preparation for the two events in India. Gita expressed his satisfaction about the quarantine program for the athletes, saying that it was very effective for preparing the athletes. "Certainly, the results are yet to be seen later when they play in New Delhi, India," he added. One of the athletes who is part of the quarantine program, Hendra Setiawan, remarked that all the necessary preparations had been completed, and so, they are now well-prepared to compete in the event.
