Jakarta (Antara) - The Indonesian rupiah strengthened 61 points to Rp11,366 per dollar on Tuesday morning from the previous close of Rp11,427. The rupiah continued its rally against the dollar after Indonesia managed to assure investors of its positive economic fundamentals, Research Chief of Trust Securities, Reza Priyambada stated. The expectation from the country's strong trade balance is one of the factors leading to the strengthening of the rupiah, he explained. "The narrowing trade deficit is expected to continue until the next quarter," he pointed out. Foreign investment inflows have remained strong since early this year, suggesting a signal for clear progress, he stated. But the rupiah's strengthening is still limited after market players have adopted a wait-and-see stand on Bank Indonesia's policy on its benchmark interest rate. (*)
