Denpasar, Bali (Antara) - Two Australian journalists, who broke immigration permission laws, were deported by the Ministry of Law and Human Rights Regional Office of Bali Province.
"They availed the visa on arrival facility but got caught while doing some news reporting in Bali," Chief of Ministry of Law and Human Rights Regional Office of Bali Province I Gusti Kompiang Adnyana stated here on Friday.
Adnyana noted that the journalists were Daniel William Sutton with passport number N9165845 and Nathan Mark Richter with passport number N7106563. Daniel is a reporter with Channel Australia, while Nathan is a freelance photographer.
He explained that Daniel and Nathan were caught while doing a news reporting and photography session without permission.
They were caught while interviewing Schapelle Leigh Corby about her parole in Kuta, Bali on Wednesday, March 5, at 10 a.m., local time.
"These activities were undertaken for commercial purposes, to sell the news and photos to Australian media, by using visa on arrival," he pointed out.
Adnyana added that they had arrived at the Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali on Wednesday.
According to Adnyana, visitors with visa on arrival were not permitted to work nor undertake any journalistic activity. They violated Article 122 in conjunction with Article 75 Law Number 6 of 2011 on Immigration.
They were scheduled to be deported to their country on Friday at 1 p.m. (*)
