Jakarta (Antara) - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) questioned Deputy Chief of the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK) Agus Santoso, on Monday, in an alleged graft case related to short-term assistance to Bank Century. "Let's wait until I come out," Agus remarked when he arrived at the KPK building. Agus was questioned in his capacity as former deputy director of the strategic planning and public relations department at Bank Indonesia. He was a witness in the case against former Bank Indonesia deputy for foreign exchange management Budi Mulya who has been held in the KPK detention center since November 15 last year. Also, the KPK will question Bank Indonesia's former director of legal affairs Ahmad Fuad, deputy governor Halim Alamsyah, and employees Rudiatin S Djadmiko, Doddy Budi Waluyo, Eddy Sulaiman Yusuf and Rusli Simanjuntak, on Monday, in the same case. According to the State Audit Board (BPK), the granting of short-term assistance (FPJP) facility to Bank Century had resulted in a loss of Rp689.3 billion and the status of the bank was listed as "failed", which in turn brought about systemic effects causing the state a loss of Rp6.76 trillion. Overall, the state had suffered a loss of Rp7.4 trillion from the case. Budi Mulya has been charged with abuse of authority based on article 3 of Law No. 31/1999 on corruption eradication. Besides Budi Mulya, another BI executive, considered accountable for extending the loan, is Siti Chodijah Fajriah, but investigations have been hampered because she is too ill to undergo a legal trial. Bank Century received a bailout of Rp6.7 trillion during the financial crisis of 2008, despite failing to fulfill the capital adequacy ratio (CAR) of 8 percent. The bank's CAR was only 2.02 percent. According to the BPK, Bank Indonesia did not take strict action against the bank. Instead, it modified its own regulations to allow the bank to receive the loan. The Rp6.7 trillion in funds were disbursed in stages, with Rp 2.7 trillion on November 23, 2008, Rp2.2 trillion on December 5, 2008, Rp1.1 trillion on February 3, 2009 and Rp630 billion on July 24 , 2009.
