Malang, E. Java (Antara) -The Arema Cronus football club, based in East Java's provincial city of Malang, will play against Malaysia's Selangor FC in the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), which will be held in March 2014, an official has said.
Based on the results of the draw conducted at the AFC's headquarters, Arema Cronus is in group F with three other teams, namely, Hanoi T & T Vietnam, Maziya Maldives and Selangor FC Malaysia, Arema Cronus' media officer, Sudarmaji, announced here on Tuesday.
"Arema has no problem being in group F. Arema has never played against Maldives until now, so we should be able to learn more about the Maldives club," Sudarmaji added.
Speaking about Arema's preparations before the sporting event, Sudarmaji noted that Arema is in the process of finalizing the members of its team as it tries to improve its performance.
The draw placed another Indonesian club, Persipura Jayapura, in group E.
The match between Arema Cronus and Selangor FC will be interesting because Selangor has contracted Andik Vermansyah, one of Indonesia's star football players, who formerly played with Persebaya 1927 in the Indonesia Premier League (LPI). (*)
