Semarang, C Java (Antara) - Fourteen Indonesian martial arts athletes will compete at the 27th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in Myanmar, which will be held from December 11 to 22. Indonesian martial arts coach Indro Catur said here on Wednesday that the athletes are currently performing exercises to maintain their physical fitness ahead of the games. "All of them are ready to compete and will perform to the best of their abilities in Myanmar," he added. The athletes include Awaludin, who will compete in the men's events (Class A), Johan (Class B), M. Adhan (Class C), Sapto Purnomo (Class D), Afriansyah (Class E), Alman Siregar (Class F) and Nyoman Ardia (Class H). W. Wita (Class C) and Maryati (Class F) will represent Indonesia in the women's events, while in the men's solo event, Gusti Ngurah Arya will be Indonesia's representative. Dewa Ayu Parwiti will represent Indonesia in the women's solo event. Usman, Muchsin and I. Made Alex will represent the country in the men's group event. There will be 15 martial art events at the SEA Games in Myanmar, but each country can only participate in 12 events or classes. Indonesia is participating in 12 events. Indro Catur said Indonesia's martial arts team is aiming to win the overall champions title. In order do that, Awaludin and his compatriots need to win five gold medals at the minimum. He noted that the goal is realistic given the limited number of events in which a country can participate. "I believe that to be crowned overall champions, we need to win a minimum of five gold medals," he added. (*)
