Jakarta (Antara) - Marketing Director of PT Toyota Astra Motor (TAM) Rahmat Samulo said demand for Astra Toyota's Agya cars had reached 15,000 units since it was launched on September 9, 2013. "We can produce 15 units of Agya cars until the end of the year. We can increase production after seeing the interest of consumers in the cars," Rahmat Samulo said in the Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS) arena here on Sunday. Asked about demand for Astra Toyota's Agya cars in the IIMS 2013, Rahmat Samulo said his company has no sales target in the show. But he said that visitors' response to Agya cars was positive. Information collected by antaranews.com at Toyota's booth, demand for Agya cars dominated the sales among other types of cars, followed by Avanza which was still a favorite Toyota car for customers. On the possibility of Agya cars to be exported, Samulo said his side had not yet discussed and planned the matter. But looking at the experience with the Kijang Innova and Avanza mini-vans, there is strong possibility for Agya cars to be exported. "In the past, Kijang Innova and Avanza mini-vans wre also designed and developed for customers in Indonesia, but it turned out that they were also needed by the export market. So, Agya which is designed and developed in Indonesia could also attract consumers in a number of states whose people's and nature conditions are similar to those of Indonesia," he said. Astra Toyota's Agya car is a type of cars being developed in line with the government's low-cost and green car (LCGC) program. (*)
