Jakarta (Antara) - Kris Biantoro, a senior entertainer, singer, actor and master of ceremony, passed away on Tuesday after suffering from a kidney failure for quite long. The former presenter of old popular television "Dansa Yo Dansa" (Let Us Dance) program died at his house here at the age of 75 at 1.30pm. Kris has had a kidney problem since he was 37 years old. His body is now laid in peace at his house on Jalan Bromo, Blok K/8 at Bukit Permai Housing Complex in Cibubur, East Jakarta. He was survived by a wife, Maria Nguyen Kim Dung, two sons Inviato and Ceasefiarto, two daughters in law and two grandchildren. Christophorus Soebiantoro was born in Magelang, Central Java on March 17, 1938. Kris has not only been known as a top master of ceremony and a singer with a deep voice but also as an actor who had played in a number of films including "Si Manis Jembatan Ancol" (The Sweet Girl of Ancol Bridge) in 1973. From 1964 to 1971 he worked as a staff member at the Indonesian embassy in Australia where he met a Vietnamese who later became his wife. In 1971 he returned to Indonesia and started his career as a master of ceremony at state-owned television station TVRI. Kris Biantoro was also the writer and first singer of legendary song "Dondong Opo Salak" ((Ambarella or Salacca). (*)
