Trenggalek, E Java, June 30 (Antara) - A flash flood triggered by five hours of heavy rains swept through five villages in Trenggalek district, East Java province, on Saturday. The flood affected Tasikmadu, Prigi, Margomulyo, Sawahan and Karanggandu villages, with a water level of more than 1 meters, secretary of the Trenggalek district disaster mitigation body (BPBD) Suprapto said. Thousands of houses located in low-lying area in Watulimo sub-district were submerged by chest-deep flood water. The flood water began to inundate the houses at 06.30 p.m. local time on Saturday, an Antara correspondent said. There was no immediate report of casualties or material damage. (*)
