Jakarta (Antara) - The Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) will hold a national working meeting to discuss preparations to face the implementation of the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) in 2015. "AEC is coming soon, bissiness associations should be prepared in facing the free trade," Noke Kiroyan, vice-chairman of Kadin told a press conference here on Monday. According to him, Indonesia should take advantage from the implementation of AEC. "By AEC implementation, our market will become broader and Indonesia should play an important role. It also would trigger businessmen in the area to work efficiently due to the tight competition among ASEAN society," he said. "I am looking into the positive aspect of AEC, not its threat," he said. He has suggested the Indonesian government eliminate the constraints of business development. Noke highlighted the lack of infrastructure facilities in the country, illegal levies, difficulties in permit processes and the high interest rate. Kadin will hold the national working meeting in Bogor, W Java on Tuesday to discuss about a better system of channeling the aspirations of its members. "We will formulate a better regulation. It should represent all associations under Kadin," he said. Currently, the vote proportion for associations is only 30 out of the 129 total votes. Meanwhile, the Kadin at province level has 99 votes. Kadin focuses on all matters relating to trade, industry and services, and is highly committed to tapping potentials and synergies of the national economy. It is offering a strategic forum for Indonesian entrepreneurs. It is privately financed, fighting for the interest of the private sector. (*)
