President Prabowo Subianto stated that safeguarding peace requires more than prayers or hope. He urged sustained efforts to achieve prosperity and justice for all Indonesians as the foundation of national and global stability.
Speaking at the Nuzulul Quran commemoration at the State Palace in Jakarta on Tuesday night, Prabowo said genuine peace can only exist when governments eliminate poverty, hunger, and social suffering.
“Maintaining peace cannot rely only on prayers and hope. It must be accompanied by real effort and hard work to achieve prosperity and justice for our people,” he said.
He added that peace would not "fall from the sky" without determined action, noting Indonesia was blessed with vast natural resources that should support national welfare if managed responsibly.
Prabowo said national leaders carry a major responsibility to manage those resources wisely so the country’s wealth benefits all citizens and ensures no Indonesian is left neglected or living in hardship.
The president said the government’s primary duty is to guarantee protection and attention for all citizens, stressing that the state must ensure people’s welfare, security, and dignity.
Prabowo said he constantly remembers the constitutional mandate requiring the state to protect every Indonesian citizen regardless of ethnicity, race, or religion, emphasizing that all people must be cared for and nurtured by the nation.
In foreign policy, Prabowo reaffirmed Indonesia’s commitment to maintaining global peace by building friendship and constructive relations with all countries, reflecting Jakarta’s long-standing principle of cooperation and mutual respect in international affairs.
