Delft, the Netherlands - Dozens of papers themed Islamic economics will be presented at an international sharia (Islamic law) economic conference to be organized by the Indonesian Muslim Intellectuals Association in Hannover, Germany on February 9, the organizer said.
"The sharia economic conference will present a comprehensive concept of Islamic economy so that participants in particular and the public can see the real difference between the sharia and the other economic systems," a member of the event organizer, Adhipati Y Indradiningrat said in a statement received by ANTARA here Monday.
He said the sharia economic conference themed the relevance of sharia economics in the turbulence of global economy, will also be held to call for papers aimed to collect ideas about Islamic economics.
"These papers are contributions in the formulation of solutions in the world's current economic problems," Adhipati said.
The graduate of Fachhochschule (university of applied sciences) Hannover, Germany explained the Islamic economic system is increasingly accepted by the world community as the fact that the system is able to survive in the current capitalist economic crisis which hit the United States and European countries.
Adhipati said the Islamic economic conference and the call for paper which are in line the theme would be well received and gain supports from various parties.
"In fact more and more people are interested and want to know the application of the sharia concept in various areas of life, and the Islamic solutions to various economic and social problems today," he said.
There are more than 40 papers proposed from different countries including Indonesia, Malaysia, Georgia, Italy, the UK, Australia and Germany. "It shows people are excited to contribute to the development of Islamic economic system in the world,"Adhipati said. (*)
