President Prabowo Subianto convened several ministers to a meeting on Sunday to finalize plans for national industrial transformation, with a focus on textiles and automotive semiconductor production.

Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya confirmed that the meeting was held at the President's private residence in Hambalang, Bogor.

"The President requested the strengthening of the textile and garment industry, primarily through supply chain revitalization," Teddy said.

Furthermore, the President emphasized the need to bolster the automotive and electronics sectors by investing in semiconductor technology.

This initiative seeks to establish a national semiconductor industry to support domestic automotive, digital, and electronics sectors in the long term.

The closed-door meeting also addressed progress on six new downstreaming projects, valued at US$6 billion, scheduled for groundbreaking in early February 2026.

Rosan Roeslani, the Minister of Investment and Head of Danantara, noted that these projects include an aluminum smelter and a smelter-grade alumina (SGA) facility in Mempawah, West Kalimantan.

Other developments include a bio-aviation fuel (bioavtur) facility in Cilacap, Central Java, and an integrated coconut processing facility in Morowali, Central Sulawesi.

The February groundbreaking will also include a bioethanol facility and five poultry farming sites.

Additionally, President Prabowo is finalizing plans for the inauguration of Pertamina’s Refinery Development Master Plan (RDMP) in Balikpapan, which is scheduled to take place this Monday.

The meeting was attended by high-ranking officials, including Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, Minister of Energy Bahlil Lahadalia, Minister of Investment Rosan Roeslani, and Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi.
