President Prabowo Subianto has reassured the public that under his leadership, the Indonesian government remains firmly committed to serving and assisting citizens affected by natural disasters.

“Rest assured, your government, your leaders, and your president will not leave you alone,” Prabowo said while addressing flood survivors at an evacuation shelter in Batu Hula Village, South Tapanuli District, North Sumatra, on Wednesday night, December 31.

The president emphasized that he has instructed members of the Red and White Cabinet to visit disaster-affected areas to conduct firsthand assessments and closely monitor emergency response and relief efforts on the ground. He said the initiative reflects the state’s responsibility to protect and serve its people.

Prabowo also urged the public to remain grateful to God while maintaining their health, morale, and resilience amid the impacts of floods and landslides that struck Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra in late November 2025.

“Most importantly, we must stand united and work hand in hand during this difficult time,” he said.

Reflecting on the recent disasters, the president reminded the public that Indonesia’s vast territory, natural beauty, and abundant resources come with a shared responsibility to safeguard environmental sustainability.

He called on the public to protect and preserve nature and to avoid actions that could contribute to environmental damage and increase the risk of disasters.

Prabowo reiterated that his administration is determined to make every possible effort to assist residents in distress.

“That is the purpose of the Indonesian government. We were elected by the people and we work for the people. That is why I chose to be here with you as the year turns,” he said.

In his remarks, the president also reported progress in disaster response efforts, noting that access to all villages in South Tapanuli that had previously been cut off by the disasters has now been restored.
